Epe Kayokayo Festival Kicks Off With Islamic Lectures And Quranic Quiz Competition

Eko Hot Blog reports that the first day of the Kayokayo Festival in Epe witnessed a remarkable gathering of Islamic scholars, community leaders, and enthusiastic participants for a series of enlightening Islamic lectures and a Quranic quiz competition.

The event, held at the Epe Central Mosque, was graced by the esteemed presence of Sheikh Taofeek Akeugbagold, the guest lecturer, alongside the Olu Epe of Epe, Ọba Shefiu Ọlatunji Adéwálé, and the Oloja-elect, Ọba Kosoko.

Numerous other dignitaries also attended, adding to the event’s significance. Sheikh Taofeek Akeugbagold, in his lecture, expressed immense pride in the young participants of the Quran competition.

“I am deeply impressed by the children’s dedication and knowledge. They have truly proven that Epe is the home of the Holy Quran,” he said, expressing a wish for his own children to have been present to witness the event.

His message emphasized the importance of peace, not only within the community but across the entire nation.

He called on everyone to have faith in God and to show respect to those deserving of it.

The Oloja-elect, Ọba Kosoko, echoed Sheikh Akeugbagold’s sentiments, praising both the children and their teachers for their outstanding efforts.

“I am proud of all the participants and their mentors. Their hard work and commitment are commendable, and I encourage them to continue striving for excellence,” he stated.

In recognition of the participants’ achievements, Ọba Kosoko presented cash prizes to the top three winners in both the junior and senior categories of the Quran and quiz competition.

The gesture was met with enthusiastic applause, further motivating the children and their teachers.

The Olu Epe of Epe, Ọba Shefiu Ọlatunji Adéwálé, also addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of such events in fostering a sense of unity and promoting Islamic education within the community.

He commended the organizers for their efforts in making the festival a success and encouraged continued participation in future events.

The event concluded with a prayer for peace and prosperity in Epe and the entire nation, reinforcing the day’s message of unity, faith, and respect.

The first day of the destival set a high standard for the days to come, promising a celebration rich in cultural and religious significance.

The Kayokayo festival will continue over the next few days with a variety of activities, including traditional dances, boat regattas, and more religious observances, showcasing the rich heritage and unity of the Epe community.
