BREAKING: End Hunger Protest Breaks Out In Kano
The city of Kano has been disrupted by a large group of mostly young protesters. Carrying placards with various messages and vocally targeting government officials, the demonstrators have caused a major upheaval.
Starting their march from neighborhoods on the outskirts like Gama, Tudunwada, and Tudunmurtala, the protesters, many of whom were painted in bright colors, made their way into the heart of the city.
In some areas, such as Hotoro, Maiduguri Road, and Ahmadu Bello Way, tensions rose as young protesters wielded dangerous weapons and demanded immediate government action. A heavy security presence, including police, Civil Defense, and DSS operatives, was evident throughout the city. On Ahmadu Bello Way, police had to step in to seize weapons from the protesters.
Our correspondent, following the events on Ahmadu Bello Way, was advised to leave as the situation grew increasingly intense and unpredictable.
The protesters, mostly under 20, were seen heading towards the Government House, seemingly in response to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s request for a peaceful demonstration. The Governor had invited them to present their demands, which he promised to personally deliver to the President if the protests remained orderly.
