Ladoja to Receive Beaded Crown from Olubadan on Monday
Former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, is set to receive a beaded crown from the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on Monday, August 12, 2024.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ladoja, who holds the title of Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, has confirmed that the crowning ceremony will take place on Monday.
The former governor will be presented with a crown befitting his status as Otun Olubadan during the inaugural meeting of the Olubadan-in-Council, which will be presided over by Oba Olakulehin.

“Yes. He received the letter on Friday evening that the crown befitting of his status as Otun Olubadan will be presented to him at the inaugural meeting of Olubadan-in-Council to be presided over by Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on Monday,12th August, at the new Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan. The meeting will start at 12.00 noon,” a source told Leadership.

Ladoja had previously declined the beaded crown when the late Oba Lekan Balogun crowned other members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
He subsequently took legal action against the Oyo State government and the Olubadan-in-Council over the matter, which was eventually resolved.

The former governor has emphasized that there is no discord within the Olubadan-in-Council, stating that the elevated Obas are all his friends.
However, in a radio interview last Sunday, Ladoja announced that he had decided to accept the beaded crown, recognizing it as part of the new requirements for ascending the prestigious throne of Olubadan.
