Nigerian Doctor Emeka Agbo Murdered in Jordan
A Nigerian medical doctor in Jordan, Dr. Emeka Agbo, has been reportedly murdered under suspicious circumstances, leaving his family and colleagues devastated.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Dr. Agbo who was also a Polio Technical Officer working with the World Health Organization (WHO) was found dead in Amman.
According to a user on X, Dolapo Aina who disclosed the loss, noted that Dr. Agbo had reportedly told his wife about threats he was receiving from two expatriate doctors with whom he worked.
Dr. Agbo was a dedicated and brilliant medical professional, committed to the fight against polio in the region.
His contributions to public health, particularly in his work with WHO Jordan, were widely respected and admired. His sudden and violent death has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for a thorough investigation.

The World Health Organization has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, but there are growing calls for the organization to collaborate with Jordanian authorities to ensure a comprehensive investigation is conducted. Dr. Agbo’s family.
Meanwhile, the wider Nigerian community are seeking justice and clarity on the circumstances that led to his tragic death.
In her reaction, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa through X social media platform, described the loss as “sad”. “This is indeed a very sad incident.”
She noted that while investigations are ongoing, NiDCOM has contacted the family of the deceased to ensure their well-being and safety.
“@nidcom_gov has been in touch with the family,” she stated. “The attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been brought to the matter. And it will be thoroughly looked into,” she added.
