Lagos Commits to Timely Retirement Pay
Lagos State Government has reiterated its dedication to ensuring prompt processing and payment of retirement benefits to all retirees in the state.
At the First and Second Quarters Year 2024 send-forth ceremony for 115 retirees of the Civil Service, Head of Service Bode Agoro encouraged the retirees to leverage government-provided empowerment opportunities to become employers of labor and explore alternative sources of income.
Agoro highlighted the present administration’s initiatives and programs aimed at keeping retirees active and connected to the state government.
These include bi-monthly webinars, quarterly training and sensitization, skills acquisition, vocational training, and mentoring schemes.
The Head of Service expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his steadfast support and visionary leadership, acknowledging his commitment to public servants’ welfare, particularly retirees.

Agoro praised the retirees for leaving behind incredible legacies, upholding professionalism, integrity, and service excellence.
Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Sunkanmi Oyegbola, welcomed the retirees and acknowledged their contributions to the state’s development.
She emphasized that retirement marks the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunities for rest, reflection, and new adventures.
Director, Post Service Department, Bukonla Durodola, noted that the celebration is part of the government’s plan to engage retired officers and show that the Sanwo-Olu administration still identifies with them.
Responding on behalf of the retirees, Kehinde Akerele from the Ministry of Justice, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for allowing them to serve the state meritoriously.
The ceremony honored the retirees’ dedication and service, reaffirming the government’s commitment to their welfare and well-being.”
