Amarachukwu Happiness Nzekwe, a 38-year-old woman, admitted to using a hot pressing iron on the back of her househelp as a form of discipline.

Nzekwe, a nurse from Ezinifitte in Aguata Local Government Area, claimed she took this action because the child had stolen money from her.

She explained that she heated the iron on a stove and used it to scald the child’s back after he refused to confess. Nzekwe confessed her actions to officials from the Anambra State Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, led by Commissioner Ify Obinabo, following her arrest.
