Nigeria Finishes 24th at 2024 U-18 Handball Championship In China
In the President’s Cup placement match on Friday morning, Nigeria was defeated by Kosovo with a score of 21-18.
The Nigerian team played a total of seven matches during the tournament, including three in the preliminary round, two in the group stage, and two in the placement phase.

In their initial Group B matches, Nigeria suffered losses to Croatia (33-11) and Montenegro (26-9), which prevented them from advancing to the main round. However, they secured a win against Angola (29-21) in their third preliminary match, placing them third in Group B and earning a spot in the President’s Cup alongside Angola, Chile, and Austria.

Despite this progress, Nigeria’s fortunes in the President’s Cup were less favorable. They narrowly lost to Chile (22-23) and were defeated by Austria (33-14).
In the placement matches, Nigeria faced Chinese Taipei and Kosovo. They lost to Chinese Taipei 22-29 and then to Kosovo 18-21, concluding their campaign with a 24th-place finish.
Romania earned the President’s Cup at the 2024 IHF Women’s World Championship, beating Argentina in the final, taking a 25:19 win. All the positions from the 17th to the 24th have now been determined, while Canada took their first win in the tournament, beating Greenland.
