on

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced an increase in passport fees, effective September 1, 2024, explaining the rationale behind the decision in a recent update.

EKO HOT BLOG notes that NIS cited four primary reasons for the fee hike, which has generated varied responses on social media.

The NIS stated that the revised fees will help ensure that Nigerian passports continue to meet the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards. Additionally, the adjustment reflects the growing costs of materials and production, which have been driven by current economic conditions.
