The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is set to recruit 1,600 personnel, including both teaching and non-teaching staff, from the state’s 16 local government areas. This announcement was made by the Board’s Chairman, Professor Raheem Adaramaja, on Tuesday.

Adaramaja explained that the recruitment process will be guided by a recent needs assessment conducted across all 16 councils in the state. The assessment aims to identify areas where staffing is most needed.

A statement issued by the Board’s Press Secretary, Atere Ameenat, clarified that this recruitment drive follows the approval of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to fill vacancies created by retirements, deaths, or transfers to other states.

The statement also emphasized that a community-based approach will be employed in the recruitment process, ensuring that while local representation is considered, competence and qualifications will remain the top priorities.

“Recruitment is going to take place at the local government level or at the nearest communities/villages where their services are greatly needed.

“Successful candidates will sign a bond of non-movement or transfer from their new place of work for the first 5 years — a condition that is based on the experience of teachers not staying in the hinterlands,” the statement said.

The chairman stated that the initiative is in accordance with the governor’s dedication to enhancing the educational sector, particularly at the community level.
