EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the arrests in a post on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.
He stated, “Nine individuals were arrested for open urination and defecation at Berger last night.”
This recent enforcement follows a similar operation just two days earlier when 17 individuals were arrested at the same location.
These arrests were for offenses including open urination, defecation, and failing to use the pedestrian bridge, further highlighting the state’s commitment to upholding sanitation standards.
As part of the broader initiative to combat open defecation, the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has also commenced a cleanup of the Ojodu-Berger highway median.
This cleanup effort is aimed at improving the overall cleanliness of the area and deterring further unsanitary practices.
