The appointment was announced by Mukhtar Mohammed Gidado, the governor’s spokesperson, in a statement on Sunday.
The decision, which was formalised in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister İbrahim Mohammed Kashim, follows the recommendation of the kingmakers and is following the powers granted under Cap. 24 Item 3 (1) of the laws of Bauchi State of Nigeria (Appointment of Emirs/Chiefs and Deposition 1991).
The statement expressed the state government’s confidence in the new Emir’s ability to uphold his father’s legacy and advance peace, unity, and development within the Ningi Emirate and the state.
The statement reads: “His Excellency Sen Bala Abdülkadir Mohammed CON, Fnipr (Kauran Daular Usmaniyya), the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya, the eldest son of the late Emir, as the 17th Emir of Ningi with a 1st Class status.

“This appointment is made in accordance with Cap. 24 Item 3 (1) of the laws of Bauchi State of Nigeria (Appointment of Emirs/Chiefs and Deposition 1991) and based on the recommendation of the kingmakers.
“The decision was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Barr İbrahim Mohammed Kashim.
“The Bauchi State Government expresses its confidence in the new Emir’s ability to continue the legacy of his late father, fostering unity, peace, and development in the Ningi Emirate and Bauchi State as a whole.
“Under the inspirational leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, the Bauchi State Government remains committed to supporting traditional institutions in their vital role in maintaining peace and progress in our communities.
“The Governor also prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Emir’s soul and extends his warm felicitations and prayers for the good health, long life, and successful reign of the new Emir.
“Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya, born in Ningi in 1956, was previously the Chiroman Ningi. He is married and has children.”
It is noteworthy that the 16th Emir, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, and was buried the same day according to Islamic rites.
