Nigeria will kick off their Group D campaign against Benin Republic on Saturday, September 7, 2024, with the match set for 5 pm at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. A video shared on the Super Eagles’ official X account confirmed the players’ arrival.
The 2025 AFCON qualifiers, organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), will determine the teams that will compete in the tournament in Morocco, the 35th edition of Africa’s premier international men’s football championship. The qualification process began with preliminary matches in March and will conclude with the group stages from September to November 2024. A total of 24 teams, including the host nation Morocco, will qualify for the final tournament.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has mandated that all Super Eagles players report to camp on Monday. Following their runner-up finish in the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast earlier this year, Nigeria begins its journey toward another major tournament, which will be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
