Senator Tokunbo Abiru Distributes Fertilizers to 1,200 Lagos East Farmers, Lauds Tinubu’s Food Security Initiatives
Eko hot blog reports that In a move to enhance food security, over 1,200 farmers in Lagos East Senatorial District have benefited from a Federal Government initiative led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Fertilizers were distributed during an event in Ikorodu on Tuesday as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to lower food costs and boost local agricultural production.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru, represented by former Lagos State House of Assembly member Hon. (Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola, praised the programme. He highlighted President Tinubu’s dedication to reducing hunger and hardship in Nigeria, noting that this initiative aligns with ongoing efforts in the district.

In addition to this federal support, Senator Abiru has previously distributed farm inputs like fertilizers, seedlings, and herbicides to over 300 crop farmers and provided vaccinated chickens, feeds, and cages to more than 100 livestock farmers in Lagos East.
Dr. Hakeem Adetugbobo, who oversees agricultural empowerment for Senator Abiru, expressed confidence that these efforts will significantly address food insecurity across the country.

Beneficiaries, including Waheed Olaide Kareem from Lekki LCDA, expressed gratitude to both the President and Senator Abiru, noting the positive impact of these interventions on their farming operations. Mrs. Folake Olaide, an executive member of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Eredo LCDA, confirmed that similar support from Senator Abiru has greatly improved the success of local farmers.
The distribution event was attended by key stakeholders such as Hon. Kazeem Sulaimon, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, and Otunba (Dr.) Femi Oke, South West Chairman of AFAN. This fertilizer distribution is expected to significantly boost agricultural productivity in Lagos East, contributing to broader national food security goals.
