EKO HOT BLOG reports that the biennial event, co-organized by PMG-MAN and GPE Expo PVT. Ltd, is the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing exhibition in Central and West Africa.
This year’s theme was “Fostering Partnership and Innovation to Unlock the Pharma Manufacturing Value Chain in Nigeria, Central and West Africa,” and saw participation from 55 companies from China and India, along with 100 PMG-MAN members.
Abayomi revealed that the Lagos State Government is drafting legislation for the new drug management agency, which will be presented to the cabinet before going to the Lagos Assembly.
He highlighted the need for the agency, noting that while other states have established similar entities, Lagos, with its significant industrial presence, has lagged behind. The agency will support local manufacturing and quality assurance, including random testing in collaboration with NAFDAC and private sector partners.
Abayomi commended PMG-MAN for its efforts to boost domestic drug production and ensure national drug sufficiency. He urged local manufacturers to adopt global best practices, stressing that ensuring the safety and quality of medicines is crucial for public health.
