Community Health Revolution: Dr Alausa Unveils Updated Guidelines for Practitioners
The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has unveiled the Reviewed National Standing Orders and the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Manual for Community Health Practitioners.
The launch, which took place in Abuja, marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to enhance the health and well-being of Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots level, EKO HOT BLOG reports.
The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Morufu Tunji Alausa, in his speech, commended the invaluable support of partners, particularly USAID, in driving the digital transformation of the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria.
He stated that the unveiling of the documents will significantly enhance the country’s healthcare system.
Today’s event is a clear reflection of this commitment and further speaks to the strides we are making under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
The Reviewed National Standing Orders are a cornerstone in our effort to standardize and elevate the practice of community health practitioners. These guidelines are essential in ensuring that our primary healthcare system remains not only responsive and efficient but also aligned with international best practices.
They are designed to empower practitioners to provide the highest standard of care, thereby supporting the sustainability and vitality of our national health programs. Equally important is the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Manual, which underscores our dedication to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the community health space.
These standing orders (SO) and CPD manual have come at the right time as we have began retraining of over 120,000 frontline health workers who will now use the SO and CPD manual to help them provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to all our patients at our Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).
I am also imploring all our Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) and Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEWs) to ensure, that they familiarize themselves with all aspects of these SO and CPD manual so that they can be up to date in their knowledge, as this will help us as a country to continue to provide standardized care to our citizens. You are the frontiers of our healthcare system.
During the event, Dr. Alausa received an award for his unwavering dedication to the healthcare sector.
He also presented an award to Marisa Jones, Country Director of USAID, in recognition of her organization’s contributions to the healthcare sector.
The Deputy Governor of Kaduna state and others also received awards.
