LASEMA Attends 121 Incidents In August
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) on Thursday said it responded to 121 incidents in August.
Its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who made this known in a statement, said that the number was the lowest recorded from January till date.
Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that road accidents ranked highest among emergency incidents attended to in the month, with a record of 39 incidents.

“This comprises 36 accidents and three breakdowns.
“Followed by the truck and tanker category comprising 34 incidents made up of 27 accidents, one fallen container, four broken down trucks, and two fallen trucks and tankers,” he said.
According to him, fire disasters and medical emergencies both have 19 incidents each which includes 17 fire outbreaks, one tanker and truck fire and one vehicle and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) fire.
“The medical emergency category comprises the recovery of one dead body and 18 others.
“Also seven various types of other incidents, with one incident each from the building collapse, gas explosion, and train crash categories.
“All these made up the 121 incidents that were attended to by the agency in August 2024,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
Speaking on Local Government (LG) emergency trends in August, Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that Alimosho recorded the highest number of incidents.
“In the 20 LG in Lagos State, Alimosho LG recorded the highest number of incidents of 20 out of the 121 incidents recorded in the state during this period.
“This was followed by Eti-Osa LG, which recorded 17 incidents; Kosofe LG, which recorded 13 incidents; and Ikeja LG, which recorded 12 incidents.
“Lagos Mainland and Surulere LG recorded seven incidents each, while Shomolu and Ibeju-Lekki LG recorded six incidents each,” the permanent secretary said.
He added that Mushin and Amuwo-Odofin recorded five incidents each, while Lagos Island, Oshodi-Isolo and Apapa LGs recorded four incidents each.
According to him, Ikorodu and Ojo LGs recorded three incidents each, while Ajeromi Ifelodun LG had two incidents.

“Badagry, Epe LG and outside Lagos boundary interventions recorded one incident each,” he said.
Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that Agege and Ifako-Ijaiye LG recorded no incidents during the period under review.
According to him, the agency has attended 1,094 incidents across the state from Jan. 1 to August 31.
“This totaled to 7,536 incidents attended to by LASEMA between June 1, 2019 and Augus 31, 2024,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
