Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has approved the promotion of 49 senior officials within the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

This announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday, September 20, by Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the approval includes the elevation of 21 Corps Commanders (CC) to the rank of Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM), 11 Deputy Corps Commanders (DCC) to Corps Commanders, and 17 Assistant Corps Commanders (ACC) to Deputy Corps Commanders. Among those promoted, three Assistant Corps Marshals are set to retire immediately.

The newly promoted Assistant Corps Marshals include prominent figures such as the Corps Secretary, ACM LD Shehu, Corps Legal Adviser, ACM KD Gonji, and Corps Public Education Officer,

ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide. Other key promotions include ACM G Ntukidem, the Corps Intelligence Officer; ACM AT Hassan, the Corps Provost; ACM MR Sabiya, the Corps Budget Officer; and ACM KA Ibrahim, who oversees the Corps Transport Standardisation Office.

Sector commanders and other vital roles across various states and departments also saw advancements.

In addition, the eleven newly promoted Corps Commanders include individuals in critical roles such as the Corps Information Technology Officer and Technical Adviser to the Corps Marshal, with Corps Commander Wasiu Adenekan MNSE among them.

The list of newly promoted Deputy Corps Commanders features DCC EE Uzoma and sixteen others who have also been recognized for their contributions.

The SGF, Senator Akume, commended the transparent and objective process that characterized the promotions. He urged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate heightened commitment and dedication to the Corps’ vision of eliminating road traffic accidents and fostering a safer driving environment nationwide.

Akume emphasized that these promotions align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiative to recognize excellence, diligence, and hard work, consistent with the current administration’s philosophy under the Hope Agenda.

He also assured the personnel of ongoing efforts to improve their welfare, encouraging all members to stay motivated and contribute meaningfully to the Corps’ mandate.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed also extended his congratulations to the newly promoted officers, noting that each promotion comes with greater responsibilities. He urged them to rise to the challenge in their new roles, emphasizing the need for enhanced focus, dedication, commitment, and passion.

Mohammed encouraged those who were not promoted this year to remain faithful and loyal to the system, expressing confidence in their future opportunities for advancement.

He reiterated his commitment to enhancing the welfare of all Corps personnel and called on everyone to remain optimistic and dedicated to achieving the Corps’ corporate objectives of road safety and accident reduction across the nation.
