I Feel Vindicated, Obaseki Can’t Win Without Support – Philip Shaibu
The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has taken a jab at Governor Godwin Obaseki, labeling him as an ingrate who turned against those who supported him.
In an interview with Arise TV, Shaibu reacted to the outcome of the 2024 Edo State governorship election, expressing that he feels vindicated against critics who doubted his electoral influence.
Speaking about his relationship with Obaseki, Shaibu clarified that he doesn’t see the governor as an enemy but is satisfied with the election result, which favored the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Shaibu emphasised that the election outcome proves that Obaseki can’t win on his own, highlighting that the governor’s previous victories were a result of the support from those around him.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Deputy Governor also mocked Obaseki for not only losing the governorship race but also failing to secure his local government area for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Shaibu advised Obaseki to begin apologizing to the people of Edo State, saying, “I feel vindicated; even the governor couldn’t win his local government. I won my unit, ward, and local government.
