Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu alongside the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, put pen to paper, signifying the official handing over of the Epe General Hospital to the Federal Government, conferring the status of Federal Medical Centre on the Medical Centre at Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island, on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
On the occasion of the inaugural edition of the Lagos Trauma Conference held at Landmark event centre in Oniru-Victoria Island Lagos State, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu officially signed the Memorandum of Understand, legally handling over the Epe General Hospital to the Federal Government, in lieu with an official signage of acceptance by the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa as dignitaries and political juggernaut from Epe present at the event were all-smiles during the activity.
Among those present include, the Honourable Federal House of Representative member, Wale Raji, representing Epe Federal constituency, Epe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun and the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA Agbowa Epe, Hon. Akogun Wale Raji Anomo among many others.
The official signing took place after various logical and strategic discussions concerning Lagos State response to trauma, distress and emergency calls, were meticulously ironed out, while x-raying innovative ideas to further promote heightened response to distress and emergency situations in the state.
EKO HOT BLOG had an exclusive interview with Dr. Tunji Alausa, who expressed his delight in the official signing of the MOU which he termed a big day for Lagos and Epe, an “epoch-making” moment that will be forever etched in the history of Epe.
“This is big deal! With the Federal Government taking over and converting Epe (General Hospital) into a Federal Medical Centre, is bringing access to the people of Epe, Lagos State.
“Hundred of thousands of people will now benefit from improved medical services, advanced pediatric, maternity, cardiac, neurology care … ”
“More importantly, we also have school of nursing that will take off next year …”
“I have to specially commend the vision of the state government… Also the Federal Government is ever committed to improving the lives of Nigerians through effective reforms which will soon yield great dividends” He concluded.
EKO HOT BLOG also received the reaction of Hon. Wale Raji to the MOU signing. He commended the efforts of the federal government while recognizing that the development is a huge milestone in the history of Lagos public health and particularly with Epe in focus.
“It is historic, the project itself…is a welcome development. It will enhance healthcare delivery in Epe. Not only in Epe Township (areas) but it will also extend to neighboring states in the country.
“It is a good thing and we appreciate Mr President for this kind gesture.” He concluded.
Also, the Local Government Chairman of Epe, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun expressed her excitements towards the development. She congratulates Lagos State government, lagosians and the people of Epe.
“With this huge project coming to Epe, it’s something that will never be forgotten in the history of Epe and Lagos State.”
Finally, Hon. Akogun also stated that he is pleased with the signing of the MOU which officially signalled the handing over of the assets ownership of the Epe General Hospital to the Federal Government.
“It is a big deal! Not just for the people of Epe but for lagosians… It means a lot to us as Epe and it’s environs will have a qualitative access to a more robust service healthcare delivery.
“It is going to bring about employment opportunities to our teeming youth… Making life more abundant for the good people of Epe in particular and of course for the good people of Lagos in general”
