Our residents deserve the best, and today, we deliver on that promise.”

Tobun to Support 200 Youths in Agriculture for Improved Food Security

Ekohotblog reports that Hon. Abiodun Tobun, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency 1, has revealed his plans to assist over 200 young people in the community through farming to enhance food security.

Tobun made this announcement in his speech during the ninth Town Hall Meeting of the House of Assembly in Epe.

The meeting’s theme, “Ensuring Food Security for a Sustainable Future: Youth Participation and Home-grown Farming,” highlights the economic challenges facing many nations today.

He emphasized the importance of addressing food security, explaining that while Nigeria’s economy is performing better than that of some other countries, it is still crucial to tackle food-related issues.

To help with this, Tobun pledged to empower at least 200 youths through agricultural activities.

“Helping these young people in farming is essential for improving food security in our community,” Tobun stated.

“There are many unemployed youths who need to be engaged in meaningful work. This initiative will support their journey to becoming self-sufficient.”

Tobun outlined that the empowerment program will provide various types of support, including incentives, partnerships with government agencies, and the supply of modern farming tools, fertilizers, and other necessary resources.

He recognized that many young individuals may be reluctant to pursue farming but stressed the need to encourage them to view it as a viable career path rather than just waiting for office jobs.

“Historically, Nigeria prospered through agriculture before oil became the dominant industry.

Agriculture is still a reliable way to sustain our nation, and we must motivate our youth to consider farming as a viable option for their futures,” he added.

Tobun also commended President Bola Tinubu for his strong economic policies and the “Renewed Hope” agenda, noting that while some decisions may be difficult, the positive outcomes will soon be visible.

“Progress often comes with challenges,” Tobun concluded, reassuring his commitment to supporting his constituents and ensuring they benefit from effective leadership and good governance.

EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government last week officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to transfer Epe General Hospital, which will now serve as the newly established Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Epe.

The agreement was signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during the Lagos Trauma Conference 2024 held in Oniru, Victoria Island on Thursday.

The club added that the Federal Medical Centre will benefit not only the people of Epe but also neighboring towns such as Ijebu Ode and Ikorodu.

While expressing their appreciation to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and Hon. Wale Raji for their efforts in making this project a reality, they particularly noted the inclusion of a School of Nursing and a College for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Saint Theresa Parish Priest Warns Youths Against ‘Fake-Life’ on Social Media Glamour and Deceptions

Ekohotblog reports that the Parish Priest of Saint Theresa Catholic Church Epe, Rev. Father Gabriel Ugoje, has advised youths not to be enticed by the glamour portrayed on social media, warning the young populace of it’s damaging effects and lifetime consequences.

In an interview, the clergyman expressed concern over the negative influence of celebrities who flaunt their riches online, cautioning that the reality behind such lifestyles is often not as rosy as it seems.

Father Ugoje emphasized that many of these celebrities have endured tough challenges to attain their success, but no one shares or celebrates the difficult journeys they have had to navigate.

“People only celebrate success,” he said. “The rough roads that lead to those successes are never shown or discussed.”

He urged young people to shift their orientation and focus on building their lives with integrity and perseverance.

“Take whatever you are doing seriously,” he advised. “Success will surely come one day, as opposed to engaging in activities that cause pain and suffering to others for the sake of quick wealth.”

The parish priest further noted that many young individuals involved in illegal activities find themselves constantly on the run, living in fear of being caught for their misdeeds.

“These young boys, who engage in all sorts of atrocities, hardly find rest because they are always looking over their shoulders.”

Father Ugoje concluded by encouraging youths to engage in honest work, pray for guidance, and remain diligent in their pursuits.

“Why not engage in legitimate work, put in the necessary effort, and pray for things to fall in place, rather than resorting to dishonest means?” he remarked.

The clergyman’s advice comes as a timely wake-up call for young people to rethink their values and take the right steps toward achieving a meaningful and fulfilling life.
