The National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, has reassured Nigerians that discussions with Dangote Refinery for direct petrol loading are progressing and will soon be finalized.

Speaking during the inauguration of a task force to combat oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism in Abuja on Wednesday, Maigandi expressed confidence in reaching an agreement with Dangote Refinery for direct product sourcing from its 650,000-barrel-per-day facility.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Maigandi also revealed that IPMAN had resolved its pricing dispute with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and has now shifted its focus towards securing a partnership with Dangote.

He confirmed that ongoing negotiations were facilitated by the intervention of the Department of State Services (DSS) Director-General, with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) set to issue the necessary import and off-take licenses to IPMAN.

While talks with Dangote Refinery are nearing conclusion, concerns persist about whether the refinery can fully meet local demand, raising the possibility of supplementing supplies with imported petrol. A recent meeting between oil marketers and Dangote officials did not result in a final agreement, but further discussions are scheduled in Lagos.

In his remarks, Maigandi also highlighted IPMAN’s role in combating economic sabotage in the oil sector, stressing the importance of the newly formed task force in curbing oil-related criminal activities and restoring the integrity of the industry.
