Women Are in Control of Nigeria’s Entertainment Industry – Bovi
Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has asserted that women hold significant control over the entertainment industry.
Bovi made this statement during his appearance on the TVC program “Your View,” where he expressed his views on gender dynamics within the industry. He noted that women often voice concerns about inequality even in sectors where they already have a strong presence, suggesting that this stems from their ongoing fight for equality.
He referenced prominent figures such as Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu, and Bolanle Austin-Peters, labeling them as some of the top producers in Nollywood.

Bovi explained, “Women need to recognize that in areas where they are advocating for equality, they may have already made significant strides but might not realize it because they are accustomed to fighting for it.”
He continued, “When discussing the entertainment industry and its support for women, I have noticed for the past 10 to 15 years that women have been in control. So what are we really talking about?
“I’m referring back to pioneers like Amaka Igwe. The biggest box office hit belongs to a woman, Funke Akindele, and the second biggest is also by a woman, Mo Abudu.
