BREAKING: DSS Storms Home, Arrests Journalist Over False Report On Akpabio’s Impeachment Plot

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have reportedly arrested journalist Edna Ulaeto, a staff member of OrderPaper, following a raid on her residence early Friday morning.

According to a statement from the management of OrderPaper, a group of armed men identifying themselves as DSS officers from the Office of the National Security Adviser forcibly entered Ms. Ulaeto’s home.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the news organization detailed that Ms. Ulaeto, who was in her nightwear at the time, was allegedly mistreated, violently manhandled, and taken to an undisclosed location without formal notice or explanation.

“The young lady, still dressed in her casual nightwear, was violently manhandled and forcibly taken away to an unknown destination, leaving her family and neighbors in shock and fear,” the statement from OrderPaper read.

OrderPaper claims that her arrest is linked to a recent article the publication mistakenly ran, which falsely reported that the DSS was involved in a purported operation at the National Assembly to prevent the removal of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Though the paper retracted the story and issued a public apology, DSS officers reportedly broke into Ms. Ulaeto’s home, searched her belongings, and left her family traumatized.

The publication further claimed that Ms. Ulaeto’s phone number had been unlawfully tracked, and neighbors attempting to document the raid were pushed aside and forced to delete photos and videos under threat of arrest.

Ms. Ulaeto’s whereabouts remain unknown, and efforts to contact her have been unsuccessful. OrderPaper has called on civil society organizations and the international community to condemn the incident as a violation of press freedom and human rights, demanding Ms. Ulaeto’s immediate release.
