Manchester United In Amorim Talks As Ten Hag Replacement
Amorim, 39, has gained significant attention for leading Sporting to two Portuguese league titles, including their first in nearly two decades since joining the club in 2020. While the talks with Amorim are ongoing, it’s unclear if United is considering additional candidates for the role.

When questioned at a press conference on Monday, Amorim anticipated inquiries about the United job but refrained from commenting.
In the meantime, United has appointed Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ten Hag’s assistant, as interim manager, though it remains uncertain how long he’ll remain in the role or if he will lead the team in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Leicester.
The club has stated that Van Nistelrooy will not conduct a pre-match media briefing on Tuesday.
The club has acknowledged the potential financial strain of compensating both Ten Hag and any incoming manager, yet sources familiar with United’s finances suggest this is manageable.
Sporting paid Braga €10 million (£8.3m) to bring in Amorim in 2020, and the Portuguese manager’s contract with Sporting runs until June 2026.

Earlier this year, Amorim was in talks with West Ham but ultimately apologized to Sporting for holding discussions without their consent.
United’s latest setback came with a 2-1 defeat at West Ham, leaving them in 14th place in the Premier League, with just three wins from their first nine games. They also sit in 21st place in the Europa League group stage, following three consecutive draws.
