Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Bobrisky was apprehended Thursday night at Lagos airport while en route to Amsterdam. The Nigerian authorities halted the KLM flight he had boarded, and he was escorted off the plane by immigration police.
Reports indicate that Bobrisky resisted airport security operatives during the arrest. Later, he took to Instagram to reveal that he sustained severe injuries in the incident, posting, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me, I’m badly injured.”
Meanwhile, the EFCC has provided updates on its ongoing investigations into both Bobrisky and former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu. During a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, represented by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Edu remains under investigation for alleged misconduct, with N30 billion recovered and 40 associated bank accounts under review.
As for Bobrisky, the EFCC addressed allegations that bribery attempts were made to dismiss money laundering charges against him. Uwujaren affirmed that the agency would not tolerate corruption within its ranks, emphasizing, “In cases involving alleged misconduct, investigations will conclude effectively, and appropriate actions will be taken where necessary.”
