Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), is set to appear in court today on charges of impersonation after a recent video showed him wearing Nigeria Police Force (NPF) uniforms without authorization.
The allegations follow a viral video where VDM presented himself as “CSP VeryDarkMan” and claimed to be Nigeria’s “number one online police officer,” actions that the NPF has strongly condemned.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in an official statement released on Friday via its X account, the Nigeria Police Force announced that the FCT Police Command is leading the prosecution, stressing the importance of preserving the integrity of its uniforms and preventing unauthorized usage.
The NPF’s statement read, “Martins Otse is scheduled for court appearance today following allegations of impersonation linked to unauthorized use of police uniforms in a viral social media video.”
The statement further emphasized the FCT Command’s active role in handling the case, reinforcing the force’s commitment to protecting its symbols and deterring their misuse. The public has been encouraged to stay updated on the proceedings as the case unfolds.
Meanwhile, VeryDarkMan was taken into custody on Thursday after responding to an official police summons.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed VDM’s detention, noting that he had also honored a similar invitation on Wednesday.
“Our client, VDM, has been detained after honoring a police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has consistently stated that the Nigerian Police are our friends, even when many disagree,” Adeyanju posted on X.
The case has sparked public interest, as many await further updates on the legal proceedings.
