OAGF Shuts Down IPPIS for Federal Tertiary Institutions

Published

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has confirmed that it has deactivated the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) for Federal Tertiary Institutions (FTIs).

This action follows the federal government’s recent decision to remove FTIs from the IPPIS platform.

In an interview with The Nation, Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, clarified that the shutdown aligns with the government’s directive, marking a transition for payroll processing for these institutions.

EDITOR’S PICKS

For November, salaries of FTI employees will be processed through the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).

Institutions must now prepare their payrolls in Excel format and submit them for verification and validation via IPPIS.

In response to concerns about salary account changes, the OAGF issued a statement emphasizing that no instruction has been given requiring employees to change their financial institutions linked to IPPIS.

Any decision to alter salary accounts, it clarified, remains a personal choice. Workers who wish to make changes were advised to use official OAGF procedures to avoid disruptions.

The OAGF, also referred to as the Treasury, urged financial institutions to enhance their operations to ensure effective handling of workers’ salaries and expressed confidence in the oversight agencies responsible for maintaining financial institutions’ stability.
