Tinubu Reappoints Abdullahi Mustapha As NBRDA DG
President Bola Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha as Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) for a second five-year term.
The reappointment was officially communicated in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, acknowledging Prof. Mustapha’s outstanding contributions during his first tenure.

Prof. Mustapha’s second term began on October 31, 2024, in line with Sections 10 (1) and (3) of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022.
This decision reflects President Tinubu’s trust in Prof. Mustapha’s leadership and his ability to drive innovation in the biotechnology sector. His reappointment is expected to advance critical areas such as food security, pharmaceutical production, and position Nigeria as a key player in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
