Dr. Tanko Yunusa, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has expressed strong confidence that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, will emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential race.

Yunusa credited Obi’s solid track record and widespread public support as the foundation for his optimism.

Speaking at a good governance symposium in Onitsha, Anambra State, organized by the Obidient Movement for the Southeast region, Yunusa stated, “History will not repeat itself.

In 2023, Obi’s victory was denied due to electoral malpractice, but this time, we are committed to ensuring a fair process.”

He emphasized that the movement is focused on advocating for electoral reforms, deploying well-trained agents to polling units, and calling for the public to have a say in the appointment of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, rather than leaving it to the president.

Yunusa also noted that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has failed to meet the expectations of various regions, including the North, East, and West, thus strengthening Obi’s chances in 2027.

In his keynote address, Prof. Pat Utomi stressed the importance of collective action through movements like the Obidient Movement to bring about meaningful change in Nigeria. “This movement is about sacrifice, and together, we can build a new Nigeria,” Utomi stated.
