No 2027 Chance for Atiku, Nigerians Have Rejected Him – Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s chances of securing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket for the 2027 election, asserting that it “will simply not happen.”
In a live media interview on Wednesday in Abuja, Wike argued that Atiku had repeatedly presented his plans to Nigerians in previous elections, only to be consistently rejected.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Atiku, who ran as the PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, recently remarked that had he won, his policies would have shielded Nigerians from the current hardships experienced under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Responding to Atiku’s statement, Wike remarked, “Did he [Atiku] not present his blueprint to Nigerians? Did Nigerians choose him? He is lobbying for another chance, but that chance will not be there. How can we rely on one person for so many years?”
Wike further drew a comparison to American politics, saying, “In America, despite the concerns about Trump’s stance on certain issues, Americans ultimately chose what they thought was best for their country. Similarly, Nigerians heard Atiku in 2023, thanked him, but decided against supporting him. Criticism alone doesn’t mean an opposition is effectively working.”
This stance from Wike signals an ongoing internal divide within the PDP regarding future leadership.
