NEMA Welcomes 148 Nigerian Returnees from Niger Republic at Lagos Airport
The Lagos Territorial Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), along with other stakeholders, has received 148 Nigerian returnees from the Niger Republic.
In a statement shared on social media Thursday, NEMA reported that the returnees arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday. The repatriation was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Mission in the Niger Republic.
According to NEMA, the returnees included 120 adult males, nine adult females, 10 male children, seven female children, and two infants.

The statement read: “The NEMA Lagos Territorial Office (LTO), in collaboration with other key stakeholders, welcomed 148 returnees from the Niger Republic on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, with support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
“The returnees arrived at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Cargo Terminal, at approximately 2:15 PM on Skymali flight ER-CTZ. The group included 120 adult males, nine adult females, 10 male children, seven female children, and two infants.

“Due to heavy rain, there was a brief delay in disembarking the returnees from the aircraft. Once the weather cleared, Nigerian Immigration Service officials arrived, and buses were provided to transport the returnees to the biometric registration center for documentation.”
Other stakeholders present included representatives from the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), IOM, and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
