NJC Asks Governors to Appoint 36 New Judges Across States [Full List]

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has endorsed 36 candidates for judicial appointments, forwarding their recommendations to the respective State Governors for approval and swearing-in.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the recommendations were finalized during the NJC’s 107th meeting, chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, on November 13 and 14, 2024.

Breakdown of Appointments:

High Court Judges – Oyo State (8)

  1. Opayinka, Adeniyi Gabriel
  2. Oyediran, Oloyede Semiu
  3. Oladejo, Olusoji Moses
  4. Ademola-Salami, Oluwaseun Toluwanimi
  5. Adesina, Jimoh Adam
  6. Adekunle, Yemi Saubana
  7. Adepoju, Olutola Jolade Adenike
  8. Muraina, Olayemi Rasaq

High Court Judges – Kebbi State (4)

  1. Muhammad, Kwaido Hassan
  2. Ibrahim, Umar Halima
  3. Jagwadeji, Suru Lauratu
  4. Muhammad, Nuruddeen

High Court Judges – Sokoto State (7)

The newly recommended judicial officers are expected to assume office upon their swearing-in by their respective State Governors. This development aims to strengthen the judiciary across the nation.
