MC Oluomo Remains NURTW President – Coordinator
The Southwest Coordinator of the Elders’ Forum of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Moshood Ajao, has refuted claims that the Court of Appeal nullified the election of Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, as the union’s national president.
In a statement on Saturday, Ajao clarified that MC Oluomo remains the legitimate NURTW president, describing the reports as misleading.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that he emphasized that Akinsanya was duly elected during the NURTW Zonal Delegates Conference held in Osogbo on November 9, 2024, and had no involvement in any legal proceedings.

“Akinsanya neither filed nor was part of the appeal that was described as devoid of merit,” Ajao stated, noting that the Appeal Court judgment referenced was delivered in Abuja on November 8, a day before the conference in Osogbo.
He further explained that neither Akinsanya nor the conference delegates were aware of the judgment at the time of the election. Ajao asserted that Akinsanya’s election aimed to ensure peace within the union, as he had remained uninvolved in any leadership disputes or litigation.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Ibikunle Tajudeen Baruwa, the incumbent NURTW president, condemned the move to inaugurate MC Oluomo despite the court rulings affirming him as the union’s legitimate leader.
Baruwa argued that such an action would violate judgments from both the National Industrial Court and the Court of Appeal, which upheld his position as NURTW president.
The leadership tussle within the NURTW highlights ongoing divisions, with Ajao and others advocating for Akinsanya’s presidency as a path to stability, while Baruwa insists on the court’s authority over union matters.
