Release Kanu to Honour Ubah – Okorocha Tells Nigerian Govt
Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has called on the Federal Government to honour the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah by releasing Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Okorocha made the appeal during a tribute night held in Ubah’s honour on Monday in Abuja. He urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to relay the request to the Federal Government on behalf of the Igbo community.

Addressing the gathering, Okorocha said, “Senator Akpabio, I urge you to convey this message to the Federal Government: the greatest way to honour Ifeanyi Ubah is to release Nnamdi Kanu, enabling the Igbos to return home and reorganize their region. Even if you hesitate, do it for the sake of your wife, who is our daughter. Deliver this message and secure a result.”
He added a lighthearted note, saying, “If not, your wife is not too far from being taken back home.”

Okorocha also reflected on the spiritual significance of the situation, suggesting that departed Igbo leaders, such as Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu and Alex Ekwueme, might be deliberating on the matter in the afterlife.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah passed away in London on July 27 and is set to be buried on November 22.
