EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, highlighted this commitment during an operational visit to Enugu on Friday, where he addressed officers and personnel of the 82 Division/Joint Task Force South-East Operation, code-named “Udo Ka.” Speaking under the leadership of the General Officer Commanding, Major General Hassan Dada, Badaru commended the efforts of security operatives in combating insecurity in the region and urged them to intensify their operations.
“President Tinubu has instructed me to engage with stakeholders to find sustainable solutions to the security challenges in the South-East. Security is a prerequisite for peace and development,” he stated.
The Minister also engaged with various stakeholders, including heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, students, and community leaders, to develop collaborative strategies for enhancing security. He emphasized the importance of peace for fostering economic growth, particularly given the entrepreneurial spirit of the South-East populace.
“We welcome your candid suggestions and information on practical measures to enhance security and ensure lasting peace in this region,” Badaru said, appealing for cooperation from the community.
He noted that the Tinubu administration has made notable progress in combating insecurity nationwide, adding that efforts will be intensified under the current leadership. “We remain committed to fostering a secure environment that supports business and community development in the South-East. Ending insecurity across Nigeria is our priority,” he assured.
Major General Hassan Dada, in his remarks, announced the Army’s implementation of robust strategies to ensure safety during the upcoming festive season. He explained that the Joint Security Task Force in the South-East is working to create a secure environment for the anticipated mass return of citizens for Christmas celebrations.
“Through ‘Operation UDO KA,’ we aim to ensure a peaceful festive season,” Dada affirmed.
The Federal Government’s renewed focus on South-East security reflects its broader agenda of fostering national stability and development under President Tinubu’s leadership.
