EKO HOT BLOG reports that this plan was disclosed in a communique issued after the PDP Governors Forum meeting held in Jos. The forum called for unity within the party and reiterated its commitment to maintaining the PDP as a reliable platform for democratic governance in Nigeria.
The communique, read by the Chairman of the Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, also expressed support for the postponement of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting out of sympathy for Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, who recently lost his wife.
The forum urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to ensure consultations are held with party stakeholders, and that the NEC meeting is rescheduled for February 2025 to address leadership and governance matters.
In the 7-point communiqué, the governors highlighted concerns voiced by Nigerians and the PDP’s founding fathers, elders, and members about the party’s unity. They reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring cohesion and its dedication to democratic governance, which has earned it the trust of Nigerians.
The forum also expressed empathy for Nigerians struggling with economic hardship and called for a review of federal government policies to improve citizens’ welfare. Additionally, the governors raised concerns over the integrity of recent elections, particularly in Edo and Ondo states, alleging manipulation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and urging judicial and legislative actions to safeguard democracy.
