BREAKING: Police Surround Afe Babalola’s Office Amid Protests Over Farotimi’s Detention
There is a heavy police presence at the Lagos office of renowned legal luminary Afe Babalola, located in Magodo Estate, as Nigerians prepare to protest the detention of human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi.
Farotimi was recently arrested by the Nigerian Police on charges of defamation reportedly initiated by Afe Babalola.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that following his arrest, he was transported from Lagos to Ekiti State and granted bail of ₦50 million by the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti.
The protests, which have gained significant public support, are spearheaded by former presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore. Sowore revealed that demonstrations would occur simultaneously in Lagos, Ekiti, Abuja, and even London, United Kingdom, under the #FreeDeleFarotimiNow movement.
Reports indicate that the police have fortified security around Babalola’s Lagos office in anticipation of the protests.
The demonstrators are demanding the immediate release of Farotimi, who remains in detention despite meeting his bail conditions.
Earlier, Farotimi arrived at the Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court for a defamation hearing related to allegations of cybercrime. The case has sparked widespread debate, with public figures like Sowore criticizing the legal proceedings and emphasizing the need for justice.
The situation remains tense as supporters of Farotimi continue to demand accountability and fairness in the handling of the case.
