EKO HOT BLOG reports that the appointments, confirmed on December 16, 2024, were announced in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The appointees include Onwusoro Maduka Ihemelandu (Abia State), Ndiomu Ebiogeh Philip (Bayelsa State), Anuma Ogbonnaya Nlia (Ebonyi State), Ogbodo Chinasa Nnam (Enugu State), Kalba Danjuma Usman (Gombe State), Usman Salihu Aminu (Kebbi State), Oyekunle Patience Nwakuso (Rivers State), and Nadungu Gagare (Kaduna State).
The selection process, conducted by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, prioritized merit, experience, and capacity to enhance administrative efficiency.
This marks the second round of permanent secretaries appointed under Tinubu’s administration. In June 2024, eight officials were appointed from other states, reflecting a commitment to equitable representation.
President Tinubu tasked the new officials with upholding diligence, innovation, and excellence, stressing the critical role of the civil service in effective governance and national development.
According to the statement, the appointments demonstrate the administration’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the civil service and ensure balanced representation across Nigeria’s diverse states and regions.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new permanent secretaries is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
This latest move underscores President Tinubu’s focus on fostering a dynamic, efficient, and responsive civil service capable of driving Nigeria’s growth and governance objectives.
