The conference featured a series of presentations and panel discussions on various socio-health issues, including environmental health, disease prevention, and the role of innovation in addressing public health crises.
Experts highlighted the need for comprehensive strategies to combat infectious diseases, manage non-communicable diseases, and promote health literacy among the populace.
A critical theme of the conference was the need for increased financial support for the health sector.
Professor Obafunwa made an earnest appeal to the Lagos State Government to bolster its funding for healthcare initiatives, emphasizing that improved financial backing would significantly enhance the capacity of health institutions to deliver quality services.
“We need more financial support from the government to strengthen our health sector. This will enable us to tackle emerging health challenges and ensure a healthier population,” he said.
The conference also acknowledged the contributions of notable individuals in the health sector.
Professor Obafunwa extended his gratitude to the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, for his unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare delivery in the state.
“We deeply appreciate the presence of Professor Akin Abayomi and the remarkable work he has been doing to improve healthcare in Lagos,” he remarked.
