BREAKING: Nigeria Customs Promotes 1,419 Junior Officers
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has approved the promotion of 1,419 junior officers across various ranks, recognizing outstanding performance in the 2024 promotion exercise.
The promotions, encompassing both General Duty and Support Staff officers, were ratified during the 10th Management Meeting held on November 29, 2024, under the leadership of Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the NCS Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, the decision reflects the Service’s commitment to career development and excellence.
The breakdown of the promotions includes 346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers elevated from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC); 4 General Duty and 13 Support Staff officers advanced from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC); 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers promoted from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI); and 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers upgraded from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).
CGC Adeniyi congratulated the newly promoted officers and emphasized the importance of their roles in driving the NCS’s core mandates, including revenue generation, smuggling suppression, and trade facilitation.
He urged them to intensify their dedication to duty and contribute to the Service’s mission of delivering exceptional service.
Meanwhile, the promotion list for senior officers is reportedly under review, awaiting approval by the Nigeria Customs Service Board.
