EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speaking in Katsina on Thursday, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, represented by Mrs. Grace Leleh, Deputy Director of Education and Youth Development, emphasized the campaign’s aim to curb irregular migration and highlight youth empowerment initiatives by the current administration.

“Youths are the legacies of any nation and play a key role in national development. In recent years, we have recorded needless deaths of irregular migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe,” Olawande stated.

He noted that Africa and the Middle East contribute significantly to the global numbers of irregular migrants heading to Europe and America.

The minister cited factors driving irregular migration, including unemployment, conflict, famine, and natural disasters, and decried the dangers migrants face, such as organ harvesting, r@pe, child labor, and prostitution.

He urged the creation of an enabling environment to harness youths’ potential, reduce brain drain, and curb migration.

Olawande outlined several Federal Government empowerment programs designed to equip youths with skills and opportunities, including garment-making, waste management, digital employability, and agricultural training like fish farming and crop production. He encouraged youths to take advantage of these initiatives to become self-reliant and contribute to nation-building.
