Ekiti Governor Thanks Afe Babalola for Support on Airport Project; Requests Charity Donations for Birthday
Ekiti State Governor, Airport Project has written a letter of appreciation to Afe Babalola, the founder of Afe Babalola University, for his financial contribution to the development of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport.
In the letter, delivered to Babalola at the ABUAD campus on December 18, 2024, Governor Oyebanji thanked Babalola for his generous support, which included funding the purchase of navigational aids, communications equipment for the control tower, and the construction of the car park. The governor expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Ekiti State Government and its citizens.
Babalola, in response, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the airport, saying that the project was a promising start and that things would have been different if similar efforts had been made three years ago. He also thanked the governor for his dedication to the project.
In another development, Governor Oyebanji has asked friends, associates, and the public not to organize any birthday parties or advertisements in celebration of his 57th birthday on December 21, 2024.
Instead of gifts or social events, the governor encouraged anyone wishing to celebrate with him to donate money or items to less-privileged children in Ekiti State.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor requested that donations be directed to the Government Special Schools for the Deaf in Ikoro-Ekiti, the Blind in Ikere-Ekiti, the Mentally and Physically Challenged in Ido-Ekiti, and the State Relief and Rehabilitation Centre for the Mentally Challenged in Ado-Ekiti.
These donations would help support the well-being of vulnerable children in the state, and the governor urged the public to make a conscious effort to support the less fortunate whenever possible.
