Edochie, who previously ran for president, now appears to be shifting his focus toward a governorship campaign in Anambra, further solidifying his involvement in Nigerian politics.
EKO HOT BLOG recalls that just a month ago, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) voiced strong opposition to the governorship seat being passed down to the Tinubu family. This response came in light of growing support and campaigns for Seyi Tinubu to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Lagos State’s next governor in 2027.

PDP officials have made it clear that Lagosians will resist any efforts to impose the president’s son as the next governor, with spokesperson Hakeem Amode asserting, “Lagos will not serve him.”
Amode questioned the idea of governance as an inherited position, stating that it was inappropriate for a son to follow his father in such a role. He also warned that if the Tinubu camp resorted to tactics used in Ondo and Edo states, they would face significant opposition in Lagos.
