Benue Declares 14 Days Public Holiday For Civil Servants

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared a two-week holiday for civil servants to celebrate the 2024 Christmas and New Year festivities, allowing workers to spend quality time with their families and engage in agricultural activities.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the holiday, announced on Tuesday in Makurdi as part of the governor’s Christmas message, will begin on December 24, 2024, and end on January 6, 2025.

The governor explained that the break is designed to enhance the well-being of the state’s workforce while encouraging them to contribute to agricultural productivity as a means to reduce poverty.

Governor Alia also emphasized the importance of continuity in essential services during the holiday period. He stated that providers of critical services, including financial institutions, energy suppliers, healthcare facilities, security agencies, telecommunications, fire services, and the water board, would arrange schedules to ensure uninterrupted operations.

In his address, the governor urged the people of Benue to uphold a spirit of love and peace, fostering unity and contributing to the state’s development.

He extended his best wishes for a peaceful and joyous festive season, highlighting the administration’s commitment to the well-being of its citizens.

“In the spirit of the Yuletide and in conjunction with the Benue Executive Council, I’m pleased to announce an elongated Christmas and New Year holiday for the state workforce.

This decision is part of our commitment to supporting the well-being of our workers,” Governor Alia stated.

He further encouraged citizens to utilize the holiday not only for celebrations but also to engage in agricultural endeavors, reinforcing the state’s commitment to food security and economic growth.
