EKO HOT BLOG reports that in April 2024, President Joe Biden enacted a law requiring TikTok’s Chinese owner, ByteDance, to either sell the platform or shut it down by January 19, 2025.
In December, TikTok filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court against the law, shortly after its CEO, Shou Zi Chew, met with President-elect Donald Trump.
During a press conference, Trump revealed that he had a “soft spot” for TikTok, adding that his administration would carefully consider the app’s future and the possibility of a ban.
As ByteDance awaits the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter, Meek Mill has publicly declared his interest in acquiring the platform.
