EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Zonal Commander, Mohammed Barde, revealed that of the 253 victims, 163 were minors aged 0-17 years, including 105 females and 58 males, while the remaining 90 were adult men and women.

“Besides rescuing victims, the command secured nine convictions for different offenses in 2024,” Barde stated.
“The victims received legal and medical assistance, rehabilitation, and reintegration services.”

“Efforts for family tracing and reunification were conducted, and some victims were supported in reconstructing their lives,” he added.
Barde mentioned that the agency was also involved in preventive actions, such as comprehensive awareness campaigns in markets, schools, communities, and bus terminals.
He noted that these campaigns aimed to increase awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and other forms of exploitation.

Barde emphasised that engaging stakeholders remained a primary focus for the command to improve cooperation in combating trafficking.

He praised the support of community leaders, NGOs, and various stakeholders in the fight against human trafficking and the protection of victims.
Barde reaffirmed NAPTIP’s commitment to strengthening efforts to safeguard vulnerable individuals and pursue offenders to create a safer community.
