Nigerian disc jockey Oluwaforijimi Amu, better known as DJ Jimmy Jatt, has shared the personal challenges he faced while battling chronic kidney disease, explaining his recent public absence.
In a candid interview on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds, the celebrated DJ detailed the difficult journey that began in 2020 when he lost his sight.

Recalling his health struggles, DJ Jimmy Jatt explained that his issues began after he decided to explore life beyond Nigeria.
“In 2019, I said I wanted to spend more time out of the country,” he said, adding that he hoped to experience new places like Europe and the U.S. However, in 2020, his plans were abruptly altered when he lost his sight, leading to surgery to restore it.

Following that, he relocated to the U.S., where he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and underwent dialysis.
After returning to Nigeria, DJ Jimmy Jatt underwent a successful kidney transplant in 2022. To focus on his recovery, he kept a low profile, even though he continued DJing in America and Europe during his time away. He returned to Nigeria in December 2023, ready to reengage with his fans and the public.
Addressing misconceptions about kidney disease, Jimmy Jatt explained that lifestyle choices aren’t always the cause.
