President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to attend the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, scheduled for January 27-28, 2025.
The summit aims to advance the ambitious “Mission 300” initiative, which seeks to provide electricity access to 300 million Africans by 2030.

According to a statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the summit, co-hosted by the Tanzanian government, the African Development Bank Group, and the World Bank, will gather African leaders, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and civil society groups to strategize solutions to the continent’s energy challenges.
The summit’s discussions will focus on critical topics such as energy access in underserved areas, renewable energy adoption, energy efficiency, and mobilizing private sector investments.
Participating countries will present their national energy strategies on the first day, outlining their plans to achieve universal energy access within five years.

On the second day, Heads of State will endorse the “Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration,” which will set a unified roadmap toward meeting the Mission 300 objectives.
President Tinubu will deliver a national statement reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to achieving universal energy access and its leadership in Africa’s energy sector.
The statement will also highlight Nigeria’s clean energy initiatives and strategies to integrate energy delivery across the continent.
Tinubu will be accompanied by key officials, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and Special Adviser on Energy Olu Verheijen, among others.
The summit will provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge, resources, and expertise to tackle Africa’s energy deficits.
