A 31-year-old married woman, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor, has explained to the Lagos State Police the reasoning behind her orchestration of an attack on her former lover, Nwaigwe Emmanuel Bright.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the assault resulted in the forceful withdrawal of N1.5 million from his account and the seizure of his gold earrings, valued at $300,000.

Despite being married with a child, Okafor maintained her relationship with Emmanuel until he abruptly ended their affair without offering any form of compensation.
The jilted woman claimed to have requested monetary compensation from Emmanuel, which he repeatedly denied. In response, she allegedly arranged for three soldiers to invade his residence at Young Shall Grow Street in the Kudeyinbu Estate, located in the Ijegun area of Lagos.
Driven by her dissatisfaction with Emmanuel’s decision to terminate their relationship, Okafor and the soldiers assaulted the complainant, leaving him injured.
She had previously insisted on a settlement of N2 million from Emmanuel as recompense for ending their affair, which he once again refused.
The group then proceeded to extort N1.5 million from Emmanuel’s account and confiscated his two gold earrings worth $300,000, promising to return for the remaining N500,000.
As a consequence of her actions, Okafor has found herself in legal trouble. Emmanuel reported the incident to the Isheri Oshun Division Police, which led to her arrest.

During interrogation, she admitted to her role in the attack, citing her desire for compensation as the primary motivation.
Having been found culpable, the Police charged Okafor before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for alleged conspiracy, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and stealing.
During the court proceedings, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her.
In response to her plea, the prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, requested a hearing date to provide the Police with an opportunity to present evidence supporting her involvement in the alleged offenses.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted Okafor bail in the sum of N500,000, with the requirement of two sureties who must demonstrate proof of livelihood and tax payment. The court will verify the sureties’ addresses before bail is approved.
The case has been adjourned until February 19, 2025, for a mention, and Okafor has been remanded in custody at the correctional center in Kirikiri, Lagos. She will remain there until she is able to meet the conditions set for her bail.
