The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has extended an invitation to popular reggae artist Daddy Showkey, born John Odafe Asimoh, to visit its headquarters in Lagos.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the invitation follows an incident where the singer entertained passengers aboard the Warri-Itakpe train during a lengthy refueling process that resulted in delays of over an hour.

Opeifa also assured the singer that providing additional passenger coaches and wagons is a top priority for his management team.
According to the NRC post, “@DrOpeifaKayode invited reggae artiste John Odafe Asimoh, popularly called Daddy Showkey to the Corporation’s headquarters to brief the management on his recent experience on the Warri-Itakpe Train Service where he had to be entertaining the passengers while the train had a short delay while fueling.”
Dr. Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of the NRC reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to making trains the preferred mode of transportation in Nigeria.
This commitment includes a strong focus on providing passenger coaches and wagons to ensure convenient, affordable, safe, and secure mobility alternatives for Nigerian citizens.
Opeifa extended his gratitude to Daddy Showkey for his positive influence during the recent train delay, emphasizing that the NRC is working diligently to enhance train operations and minimize disruptions.

In addition, Opeifa encouraged passengers to utilize the NRC’s customer care portal to share their observations and suggestions, thus enabling the corporation to better serve its customers.
In response to his invitation to meet with the management of the NRC, Daddy Showkey, stated that although the invitation came as a pleasant surprise, he was not entirely taken aback.
Daddy Showkey affirmed his belief that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the right decision in appointing Dr. Kayode Opeifa as the Managing Director of the NRC.
He said: “I have confidence in Dr Kayode Opeifa’s competence in driving positive change in the railway corporation, judging from his past track records as the Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos.”

He noted that though his experience during the trip from Warri on the train was a mixed bag, it showed him clearly that the route is very lucrative as passengers are yearning for increased frequency in train service to accommodate more passengers and farm produce.
However, Daddy Showkey said it is thrilling to travel by rail. He was accompanied by his manager, Morrison Ovedja.
